Stand Sunday 2022
Will you stand with us?
Stand Sunday is coming on November 13 and we can’t wait to see how the Lord works this year, especially after attending the CAFO Summit in September.
We are excited to continue working with local churches to raise awareness of the needs of vulnerable children and families in their community who are touched by the foster care system.
You never know who will need to hear the story of a child in care or the immense need for foster families in order to act.
THE BAHAM’S STORY
Joey and Stacy Baham’s journey to fostering started by saying “no.”
As Joey recalls, “I was anti-fostering… I’m not gonna do it, I’m not the one.” Then one day their church shared about the incredible need for foster families and a seed was planted.
Joey began to pray about it and one day, heard the Lord say, “These are my children, too. Are you going to help me take care of my children?”
The Baham’s have been foster parents with Bair for 15 years and, in that time, have opened their home to 13 children. They also recently adopted three girls.
WHERE TO START
It can be overwhelming to figure out how to start and there is always going to be a reason to not begin.
Why not start by researching foster care data where you live. The More Than Enough Data Exchange breaks down numbers by state and county and is a great way to get an idea of the needs in your backyard.
When you see the numbers, what would it look like if you opened your heart and home to a child in need?
Spread the word to your church and your community. Not everyone is called to be a foster parent, but as believers, we are all called to take care of the fatherless and the vulnerable. Sometimes that means offering a meal to a foster family, providing transportation to sporting events, or giving a gift card for foster children to purchase comfort items when removed from their homes. They always, always, need your prayers.
- Encourage families in your church to become foster parents. Your words of encouragement just might be what a family needs to hear to meet the desperate need of a stable home for a child.
- Invite one of our representatives to speak to your congregation, small group, or community organization about the specific needs in your community.
- Show our videos, and place yard signs or posters in your community highlighting the need in your local community.
- Pray for the children, families, and for our staff.
